THE MONTH OF OCTOBER

October (Oct.) is the 10th month of the year in the Gregorian calendar, coming between September and November.   It has 31 days.   The name comes from the Latin 'oct' for "eight".   It was the eighth month of the year before January and February were added to the beginning of the year.

Is October a national month?   Yes, that's because October is National Italian-American Heritage Month, Cook Book Author Month, and Country Music Month, as well as (for the more serious) National Cholesterol Month.

October is the tenth month in the earlier Julian calendar.   It dates back more than 2000 years to the ancient Roman calendar, which was replaced by the Julian calendar in 45 BCE.

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

What is the meaning of the October month?   October is here, and in the northern hemisphere, that often means the days are flush with falling leaves, chilling weather, and a growing anticipation for the holiday season.   The tenth month by our Gregorian calendar, October shares a root with octopus and octothorpe—the Latin octo-, meaning “eight.”

October became the 10th month when January and February were added to the Calendar.   The Saxons called the month Wintirfyllith because it had the first full moon of the winter season.

The two zodiac signs associated with the month of October are Libra and Scorpio.   People born from October 1st to October 22nd are members of the Libra sign.   Scorpio: October 23rd to November 22nd.   The Scorpio is resilient and opinionated, which explains why they are amongst the most driven of the zodiac signs.

October also has two birthstones; Tourmaline and Opal.   Tourmaline is a favorite gemstone for many because it's available in a rainbow of beautiful colors.   Opal gemstones are truly unique because each individual gem is adorned with a one-of-a-kind color combination.

Libra (September 23 - October 22) - Libra is obsessed with symmetry and strives to create equilibrium in all areas of life.   These air signs are the aesthetes of the zodiac: Ruled by Venus, the planet that governs love, beauty, and money, Libras adore high art, intellectualism, and connoisseurship.

The most compatible signs with Libra are generally considered to be Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius.   The least compatible signs with Libra are generally considered to be Cancer and Capricorn.   Comparing sun signs can give a good general idea of compatibility.

What are Libras attracted to?   This is plain and simple, Virgos are attracted to Pisces!    Libras are most attracted to Leo's and almost any sign except for Aries.

When a Libra woman is hurt, she seeks out harmony and peace.   She wants a peaceful, balanced relationship, so she does not like getting into a fight.   Libras hate being alone in life, so they will try to restore balance to their relationships.   When a Libra woman is hurt, you need to start by showing how much you care.

October's birthday flower, the vibrant marigold, is a Mediterranean native plant and has been prized for both its beauty and versatility.   They come in a range of colours including white, gold and yellow; however, probably the most popular is bright orange.   There are two types of marigolds, tagetes and calendula.

The bird month of October is the Swan.
