July 2022
WELCOME TO OUR JULY 2022 NEWSLETTER !

It is July already - can you believe it?   Half of the year has gone by so soon!   As I write this news, Wimbledon Tennis has started for 2022.   There are only limited foreign summer holidays available, as a result of many strikes in the UK.   So stay at home.   It's getting hot now this weekend - with rain due most days too!   Enjoy the sun while you can!

Congratulations and well done to all of you who attended the 'TOEIC Practice Test' in Berlin during June.   There were some very good results/scores from many of you.   But the winner on the day was Sonia Kristianson from Norway.   Well done, Sonia - 3,000 words of copy editing and proofreading are FREE on your next manuscript submission.

Keep an eye open for the next 'IELTS Practice Test'.   It will be at the end of the Northern Hemisphere Summer Holidays - most probably at the end of August, or at the beginning of September.   We will let you know..............

How about you?   What's happening in your part of the world?   Write in and tell us - that will be good!

THE MONTH OF JULY

Across the UK, July temperatures average a daily high of 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit) and a low of 12°C (53°F).   This is the middle of summer in the UK, while November starts the winter season.

The seasons in the Northern Hemisphere are the opposite of those in the Southern Hemisphere. This means that in Argentina and Australia, winter begins in June. The winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere is June 20th or 21st, while the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, is December 21st or 22nd.

The average daytime temperature in Sydney, Australia, during this time of the year (July) is around 13°C and the average minimum temperatures generally tend to hover around 8°C. High temperatures can still reach 17°C though, even in winter. Sunshine is also in abundance in July, as it is throughout most of the year in Sydney.

July is the seventh month of the year (between June and August) in the Julian and Gregorian Calendars and the fourth of seven months to have a length of 31 days. It was named by the Roman Senate in honour of Roman general Julius Caesar, it being the month of his birth.

When Julius Caesar died, Quintilis, which was his birth month, was renamed July.

Quintilis means “fifth month” in Latin, which represents where this month originally fell in the Roman calendar.

Summer is July in the USA and it is the prime vacation month with the best warm weather of the year.   The Fourth of July is the best partying of the year because it lasts all day.   It is also Independence Day.   July is the time when a beer by the pool is all you need and when you seriously consider moving to a part of the world where the weather is like this and never ends.

Rubies, the birthstone of July, are considered the king of gems and represent love, health, and wisdom. It was believed wearing a fine red Ruby bestowed good fortune on its owner. A Ruby is the most valuable gemstone and its value increases based on its color and quality.

People born from July 1st to July 22nd are members of the Cancer zodiac sign. A person born under Cancer can be identified by their emotional and intimate nature. For those born after July 22nd to July 31st, they are a part of the Leo zodiac sign (more next month).

The flower of July is a Larkspur or a Water Lily and they are coloured Green, Russet, and Red.
